What it does
Cleans up the voice
The voice is rebuilt at studio quality, pulled clear of background noise, room echo and electrical hum.
Keeps the room, or drops it
By default the background stays, quieter, so the recording still feels like where it was made. Want the voice alone? Turn the background off.
Audio and video
Works on M4A audio and on MP4, MOV and M4V video. For video, the enhanced voice goes back into your original footage, picture untouched.
Several files at once
Choose a batch from Files or Photos and they are enhanced one after another. Preview the result before you keep it.
Saves where you expect
The enhanced file is saved next to the original, never overwriting it. Enhanced videos are also added to Photos, with add-only access, so the app cannot read your library.
The model behind it
Most noise removers work like a filter: they guess which parts of the sound are noise and turn them down, and the voice comes out thin, watery or robotic along with it. ClarityME does something far more ambitious. Its speech-restoration model listens to what was said and who said it, then rebuilds the voice from scratch — fresh, full-bandwidth 48 kHz audio, as if it had been recorded on a good microphone in a quiet studio.
Because the voice is regenerated rather than scrubbed, there is nothing left of the noise to leak through. Traffic, air conditioning, room echo and electrical hum don't get quieter; they simply aren't part of the new voice. And it is still unmistakably your voice: speaker identity is carried through intact.
Research-grade, in your pocket
Models of this class usually run on server GPUs. ClarityME ships a carefully compressed version that runs entirely on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, with no connection needed.
Smaller without sounding worse
Before it went into the app, the compressed model was measured side by side with the original. Its output matched to within a rounding error on voice quality and speaker similarity (over 0.9999).
